Elliot A. Heller, M.D. FACP, FACG

Gastroenterology

Dr. HellerDr. Heller received his BA from the University of Pennsylvania in 1968 and his Medical Degree from Mount Sinai School of Medicine in 1972. He completed his Medical Internship in 1973, Medical Residency in 1975 and Fellowship in Gastroenterology in 1977 at Mount Sinai Hospital, NYC. His Academic appointments include Clinical Assistant in Medicine, Mount Sinai Hospital and Clinical Instructor, Division of Gastroenterology, Mount Sinai School of Medicine, NYC. He is a member of the American Gastroenterology Association, American Association for the Study of Liver Disease, American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and a Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.


Richard M. Moccia, M.D., FACP, FACG

Gastroenterology

Dr. MocciaDr. Moccia received his BS in 1974 from Manhattan College and his Medical Degree in 1977 from Dartmouth Medical School, Hanover, NH. He completed his Medical Internship in 1978, Medical Residency in 1980 and was Chief Medical Resident in 1981 at Saint Vincent’s Hospital and Medical Center in NYC. He completed his Fellowship in Gastroenterology in 1983 at the University of Rochester, Strong Memorial Hospital. He is a Clinical Instructor, Department of Medicine at Mount Sinai Medical Center and Consultant in Gastroenterology at Mount Sinai Hospital. He is past president of the Rockland County Unit of the American Cancer Society where he is still active. Dr. Moccia is a member of the Medical Advisory Committee to the Rockland County Cancer Institute. He is chairman of the Rockland County Colorectal Project- a screening program for uninsured patients. Dr. Moccia is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.


Andrew M. Goldenberg, M.D., FACP, F.A.G.A.

Gastroenterology

Dr. GoldenbergDr. Goldenberg received his BA in 1979 from Vanderbilt University and his Medical Degree from Boston University, Boston, MA graduating with honors (AOA). He completed his Medical Internship in 1984, Medical Residency in 1986 from Boston City Hospital, Boston, MA and his Fellowship in Gastroenterology in 1988 from Mount Sinai Medical Center, NYC. He is an attending physician and Clinical Instructor in the Division of Gastroenterology at Mount Sinai Medical Center and Chief of Gastroenterology at Nyack Hospital (2003-2006). He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology and is currently practicing in Rockland County at Good Samaritan and Nyack Hospitals.


Alfred C. Hollander, M.D.

Gastroenterology

Dr. Hollander joined DDAR in 1998 following 11 years of private practice in Gastroenterology. He received his BS degree in 1974 from George Washington University in Washington, DC, his Medical Degree from Autonomous University of Guadalajara School of Medicine, Jalisco, Mexico in 1979, and completed a rotating Internship at SUNY Stony Brook in 1980. He completed his Internship and Residency in 1983 from Mount Sinai Services Hospital Center at Elmhurst, Queens, NY and Fellowship in Gastroenterology from Tulane University School of Medicine, New Orleans, LA where he served as Assistant Professor of Internal Medicine in Gastroenterology prior to moving to Rockland County in 1986. Dr. Hollander is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.


Vipul H. Shah, MD, FACP

Gastroenterology

Dr. ShahDr. Shah joined DDAR in July 2000. He received his Bachelor's Degree in 1990 from Rutgers College and his Medical Degree in 1994 from University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (formerly Rutgers Medical College). He completed his Internship and Residency in 1997 at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center. He stayed on at Columbia to do a Fellowship in Gastroenterology from 1997-2000. Dr. Shah received advanced training in Endoscopic Ultrasonography, ERCP and therapeutic endoscopy while at Columbia. He currently performs these procedures at Good Samaritan and Nyack Hospitals. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.

Dr. Shah is Chief of the Gastroenterology Section at Nyack Hospital. In addition he is the chief medical officer and on the Board of Advisors of the Rockland Chapter of the American Cancer Society. He is also co-director of the Esophageal Center at Good Samaritan Hospital where he performs, among other things, radiofrequency ablation (BARRX) for Barrett's Esophagus.


Viyada Sarabanchong, M.D.

Gastroenterology

Dr. SarabanchongDr. Sarabanchong joined DDAR in January of 2002, after having practiced in Dutchess County for several years. She received her Bachelor of Science from Brown University in 1987, and her Doctor of Medicine from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons in 1991. After completing her Residency in Internal Medicine at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center in NYC in 1994, she continued her training at Columbia, completing a Fellowship in Gastroenterology in 1998.

Dr. Sarabanchong practices general Gastroenterology and Hepatology, and performs Endoscopic procedures both in the office and at Good Samaritan and Nyack Hospitals. She is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.


Deborha M. Caputo, M.S., CS-FNP

 

Ms. Caputo joined Digestive Disease Associates of Rockland, PC in September of 1996. She received her Masters of Science as a Family Nurse Practitioner from Pace University. Deborha has a Bachelors of Science from the College of Mount St. Vincent and an Associate Degree from Rockland Community College in Nursing. She worked as a staff nurse at Nyack Hospital for 12 years and as an instructor for home health aides at Home Aides of Rockland. Deborha sees patients in collaboration with all the physicians at DDAR for a variety of gastroenterology issues. She also facilitates a support group on a regular basis for our Hepatitis C patients.

Ms. Caputo is Board Certified through the American Nurses Credentialing Center. She holds membership in the American Association for the Study of Liver Disease, the American College of Gastroenterology and the Nurse Practitioner Association of New York.
